Jupiter 8 was updated to V4 for V Collection 8. I would just be happy with the sounds like you said, but the official EIII + EIV library are much more and bigger samples than anything in the Proteus and it includes those too. Emu EOS samplers (E4) are so easy to use and sample with.
I have Halion 6, though it's anything but intuitive to use.
I don't care if it's part of V Coll, I'd easily spend separately on that.
They really could just buy the code from Creative and update it. Ability to sample, modulation "cords" section, all the filters, reads EOS and Akai etc. I would like to see though a fully fledged modern sampler from Arturia, especially if it could be the evolution the Emulator line, picking up where Emulator X left off. I'd love that. The "Ultra" Proteus is the one that has all the huge amount of filters.
Allow patch import from any of those devices. Give it the wave rom and library from all the Proteuses (1, 2, 3, MPS+, 2000 etc. Yeah, i've been wanting a Proteus V for a long time. Same for an Akai S-950 emu with a good selection of sounds, or a sp1200 "emu" lation and there's still tons of analog synth emulations no one or very few companies make. If for instance they bought the rights to make a new modern Emulator-X that had the Emu and all Proteus library in it, I and tons of other people would be ALL over it.
1 synth you can buy as cheap hardware or from lots of other software vendors, a couple niche sample libraries, and a few updates is just not enough for me.ītw I'm fine with romplers but at this point, they need to have a flavorful player and or specific vintage soundset to be interesting to me. In my opinion it's just not that good a deal, when you can regularly get the whole V Coll between $3-000-$400 Things are always priced high in the beginning, but this is not so exciting to me that I can't wait, or never get it.įor $150 I'd want at least 2 synths/samplers/drum machines, preferably ones that aren't done by other vendors multiple times over and some updates. I can't see the sound being that much improved that i wouldn't rather have more NEW stuff for $149.įor $249 I can buy Falcon, or any number of a bunch of new stuff between $150 and $250.
The re-works might help the upgrade be worth it but I already have those plugin and am fine with them. As well I can buy a Behringer K2 for $329 or a used ms20 mini about the same. I remember being skeptical about their unique effects in FX Collection and then they became my favorites.Īnd for the “reworks,” I’d say that for me they went from things that I almost never used to things I’ll now use all the time, so to me that’s like getting new synths added, and by the sound of it, they chucked the old code in a bin titled “deprecated,” and started from scratch.Right, but one Ms20 plugin is not worth $150 to me especially when I already have the Korg one and can buy the Cherry Audio Ps20 for just $29. I’m also not really that excited for the ROMpler things, but we’ll see. You just happen to already own one, which Arturia gives you credit for. People keep saying “one new synth,” but it’s really two new emulations. That may push me over the edge to pay the $149, we'll see.
That's what's enabled me to buy V Coll + FX Coll. What i do like though, is Arturia's 4x payment plan. Besides me having more regular sample based sounds in Komplete, Halion, UVI world suite 2, and FL studio (ie not like EII which is an interesting playback sound and specific vintage library) coming out of my ears, If I want even more I'll just sub to East West. Arturia are known for their realistic easy to use GUIs, modeling, and interesting sound players. If sample libraries are again a major percentage of V10 I'll sit that one out too. It's always hard to get myself to buy stuff I already have. Those re-works seem cool, but maybe at $99 I'll get it. This time having just one new synth, the Ms20 just isn't enough for me to justify. I'm fine with them adding in some sample library stuff, but I view it as filler unless it's part of an innovative sample player like the Emulator II V or the Mellotron V. You can also buy plenty of sample library stuff for $29 for Kontakt. I have plenty of that kind of stuff in NI Komplete + Halion and don't really use them much there. If I decide to just skip that though and sit one out, do any of you know how Arturia handles that pricing?Īlso the idea of things like the augmented strings and voices are a little bit of a let down for me. I hear here probably next Black friday they will offer the upgrade cheaper, most likely $99. This time because I already bought the SQ80v separately there's nothing I really care enough about to spend the $149 upgrade price I'm being offered. Historically when you skip and upgrade version do they charge you 2 upgrades worth the next time?
